Nizio Makes Everyone Dizzy-O In Barcelona!

Winner – Michal Nizio (Rapid Racing) 28 Laps 50:21.541
Fastest Lap – Alexis Clapano (LMP-ANBU Racing) (1:43.920)
Pole Position – Fickry Segeir (Privateer) 1:42.027

Michal Nizio has won the opening round of the World SimSports GT3 Europe Championship Powered by NRT Game servers. In an intense race-long battle with pole-sitter Privateer entry Ficky Segeir, the Pole drove the most consistently to win in a car released under a week ago. Clapano lauded Nizio after the race as “crazy fast and consistent.” However, Clapano’s fastest lap means the two are separated by just one point at the top of the championship standings. Matthys Lepetit of Fusion Racing team took the final podium position, finishing some 36 seconds behind the dominant and relentless pace of the leading pair.

Further down the field there were battles aplenty, despite some less than gentlemanly driving in places. Mike Crowing of Natural Mullets Racing enjoyed “awesome battles” with Rifqy Afiat of HME-Amsterdam racing and mentioned the sporting behaviour of the cars at the front fighting their way through lapped traffic. Mention should be made of Rafael Carbadello of Liam Racing Team and Campbell Wallis of Kaibatsu Racing who gained twelve positions in the race over their qualifying placings. Of the enormous field of 34 cars, 30 made it to the chequered flag.

With several drivers seemingly finishing out of position due to bad luck and other issues, this championship is open for the taking. With racing battles getting heated throughout the field, it seems that this championship will be competitive for everyone who takes part. The next round at Paul Ricard will provide an entirely different type of challenge to Barcelona, and will surely be as competitive a race as this was.
